I was invited by author Nancy Hinchliff ( www.amemorabletimeofmylife.blogspot.com ) to answer 10 questions about my most recent project and tag 3 or 4 other writers to do the same. Their blog post dates and links will be posted at the end of my answers.
Here are the questions:
1. What is the working title of your book or project?
My current writing project working title is "A Lighter Shade of Green: Native American Philosophy and the Transcending Sustainability of Instinctual Architecture"
2. Where did the idea come from for the book or project?
This is my thesis dissertaion for my Masters Degree in Architecture. The idea spawns from the inner essense of where my spiritual journey continued to lead me, all my years; in Nature, Architecture, and Spirit.
3. What genre does it fall under, if any?
Philosophy, Architecture, and Environmental awareness.
4. If applicable, who would you choose to play your characters in a movie?
Hmmm... I think Edward Norton could work, although John Trudell is quite capable of playing himself. I'd give a go in it! It would likely be a documentary, (although I am working on a fictional piece that conveys a similar message.)
5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your manuscript or project?
This project is an exploration into Native American philosophy and the influential potential for architectural application, which could in turn awaken occumpants to their integral part of nature; as a ricipricol and respectful inter-relationship of all life.
6. Will your book or story be self-published or represented by an agency?
Represented
7. How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
...about 6-8 months for the entire first draft.
8. What other book or stories s would you compare this story to within the genre?
That's a tough one ... How about I venture outside the genre a bit and say its sort of 'Guns Germs and Steel' meets Aristotle, Viola Cordova, and Elizabeth Gilbert.
9. Who or what inspired you to write this book or story?
No one person inspired this project, but my mother was a great inspiration to me in regard to both architecture and nature. You can read about my amazing mother in my memoir Clouse's Houses. (Go to author page for more info)
10. What else about the book or story might pique the reader’s interest?
Anyone seeking to open their perspective of how we live on this planet, in regard to our relaionship with nature, will find this project most interesting. My recently published book, Clouse's Houses - A story of Challenge, Change, and the Heart of an Architect, serves as an initiation to my world and as a foreground for this next big project - A Ligher Shade of Green
